For those exceptional few, the sales of Black Friday simply aren't enough. Those fearless shoppers have braved the blistering cold, the frenzied crowds, and the purgatory like lines for the ultimate deals-- yet, their thirst for the best finds has yet be quenched. Enter Cyber Monday!

Serving as both a rebuttal and ally to Black Friday, Cyber Monday began in 2005 with online retailers searching for a way to tap into the the billion dollar profits seen by store front retailers. In 2011, comScore reported that Cyber Monday saw US consumers spend over $1.5 billion online from November 28 December 2 (Wikipedia) and comScore is expecting online consumers to blow past last year's sales.

“With Thanksgiving now behind us and most consumers returning to work tomorrow [Monday], we can look forward with anticipation to Cyber Monday, which according to norms we’ve observed over the past three years should be the heaviest online shopping day of the season with sales approaching $1.5 billion or even higher,” said Gian Fulgoni, comScore chairman, in a statement (Market Watch).

Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday after Black Friday, (the Friday following Thanksgiving in the United States), created by companies to persuade people to shop online. The term made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "Cyber Monday' Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of Year."
