Celebrate International Day of the Girl with Persona's Bead Design Contest
PERSONAGIRL LAUNCHES BEAD DESIGN CONTEST TO SUPPORT THE CANADIAN WOMEN'S FOUNDATION GIRLS' FUND
(Toronto, ON) – First Jewelry Limited's new bead jewelry brand, PersonaGirl, is partnering with the Canadian Women's Foundation to find a new bead design that will be sold to benefit important girls' programs across Canada. Launching October 11th, on the first International Day of the Girl, the contest invites young Canadians ages 12 – 18, to submit a design for a new Girls' Fund bead. The winning Girls' Fund bead will be introduced into a 2013 PersonaGirl collection, featured in Canada's Vervegirl magazine and sold with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Canadian Women's Foundation Girls' Fund.
In Canada, the group at the highest risk of sexual assault is girls aged 13 to 15. As girls approach their teen years, their self-confidence plummets and their rates of depression soar. The Canadian Women's Foundation is helping to empower girls by investing almost $9 million over the next four years in 28 ground breaking programs, operating in 56 communities across Canada. These important programs will help girls to stay safe, improve their mental health, challenge stereotypes, and successfully navigate adolescence.
Entries to the PersonaGirl Bead Design contest will be reviewed by a panel of judges and narrowed down to five runners up. The top 5 entrants will each receive a PersonaGirl bracelet valued at $200, and be entered into a public voting process to select the winning design.
